A choir student prepares to sing behind the confinement of a mask. “Choir has really given me a family to go to whenever I need someone. Everyone is so supportive and being in choir has just improved my life in so many ways,” Ekstorm stated.

Not even a pandemic could hold them back; they were determined to do the things they loved. They were ready to sing. Members of the CTHS choir prepared for their first in-person choir concert since 2019. Starting May 5th-May 6th, the ensemble will perform multiple songs including, “The circle of life,” “How far I’ll go,” and “The climb.”

The coronavirus pandemic has enabled any performance until then creating ecstatic energy among the students.“I am so excited about the in-person performance. At the beginning of this year, I didn’t think that an in-person performance would be possible so just getting the opportunity is a privilege that I didn’t think would happen this year,” Emma Ekstrom said. CT choir members, including Ekstorm, Nikki Wilks, and Sidney Quintanilla, shared their opinions on the choir and how it influenced their lives. “CT choir has given me a place that feels like home. It has helped me make friends and practice my love of singing,” Wilks concurred.

The difference between this concert and others is the fact that it will be in person.  Ensemble-member Quintanilla solicited her thoughts.“I am very excited for our performance to be in person this year because I really miss the performing experience, and an in-person concert feels more rewarding,” Quintanilla remarked. The greatest part of all is the relationships created in the choir community. Choir improved the lives of those students who needed people to help love, laugh, and lead.“The choir has really given me a family to go to whenever I need someone. Everyone is so supportive, and being in choir has just improved my life in so many ways,” Ekstorm disclosed.
