Garrett Aldred, Staff Reporter
Garrett James Aldred was born in San Clemente, California, which is the last little beach town in Orange County. Even after moving only eleven weeks later he stays true to his SoCal roots by his attire and flowing hair. Since then he has lived in the same house for seventeen years and he has flourished through the CCSD school system.
Since preschool, sports has always caught the attention of Garrett. Starting football as early as preschool, he has played numerous sports throughout the years. In High School he has been on varsity football every year while also taking on lacrosse and track in the springtime. A part of Cherokee Trail’s 2023 state winning track and field team, he ran the hurdles and relays. During weekends he looks for time to go up in the mountains to dirtbike with his dad.
Sports is not the only area that Garret dominates in. He also excels at the academic level, earning many academic awards since elementary school. Garrett in high school has achieved an Academic Letter each year and is an Academic All-American athlete with his 4.0 GPA.
Sports is such a major part of Garrett's life that he is now blending his school and sport worlds by joining the Digital Media team as a staff member. He looks forward to capturing the joyous moments of his fellow CT athletes with his photography and writing skills.
Jake Scott, Staff Reporter
Jake Michael Scott was born and raised in Sycamore, Illinois until the age of 12. His family left the small town of Sycamore for Aurora, Colorado, trading a town set among sprawling farmlands, for a bustling suburb with tightly packed houses.
Jake prefers late mornings to early rising. By 4:00, you can find him shooting baskets and running drills in the Cherokee Trail gym. He gets his inspiration from Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat. Basketball brings out joy in Jake, something otherwise not observed in class.
Teachers recognize Jake’s academic focus and his positive influence on classmates. He was awarded the distinct honor of Aurora Scholar, an award given to a select few in the Cherry Creek School District. Jake earned this award in seventh grade at Fox Ridge Middle School. He continues to excel in school and finds a personal interest in digital media. Taking video and photographing sports is his passion. He has the unique ability to capture significant moments. Because Jake can foresee action, he is able to get unique shots that spectators miss. Videos and photographs inspire others to take interest and attend sporting events.
Motivated by awards given to journalists, Jake takes on new challenges through his Digital Media class and enjoys the action at sporting events.
