As students continue to climb through the ranks between lower and upperclassmen, academic and personal life can easily become very busy.
For Brenden Lee, life is busy for many reasons. Sometimes it’s because of his hobby in performing arts. His hobby is making videos with his friends or family. Or his academic hobby in AVID.
AVID, the college preparation course, can be a very demanding class, especially for new students. However, it’s not without any benefits. With 95% percent of 2024 AVID students getting accepted into a 4-year college or university, the door to success is a very clear one.
For students such as Sophomore Brenden Lee, AVID has changed their way of approaching the challenges that appear in their lives.
“It’s taught me how to study, it’s taught me how to talk to my teachers, to make a plan,” Lee said.
AVID doesn’t just help you in the academic sense; it can also help in the social and personal aspects of life
For Lee, being in the same class means learning about and socializing with other students. It means learning how to organize your day and your backpack. It means building your character and your own pathway towards success.
“You’re gonna stay with these people, this class, for the entire year…you grow up together,” Lee added.
When asked about what he is doing in AVID this year, Lee replied, “We’ve been setting some goals, and…we’re still getting to know other people.” With it being the start of the year, things are coming together slowly, with a more finished plan as the year goes on.
With social, academic, and personal benefits, AVID is a beneficial & helpful course for a path to success.
As Lee puts it, “It’s taught me how to study. It’s taught me how to talk to my teachers…make a plan…It has encouraged me to always…try something new.”
