Cristian Mbamarah, a student athlete, and a name to remember. No matter the score, the weather, the time, or the place, Mbamarah is on the football field to win.
The sophomore on Varsity has been excelling on both sides of the ball. Mbamarah has been playing as a defensive back and a wide receiver, he is quickly making himself a household name. Mbamarah currently leads the team with two interceptions, as well as having two passes defended, and 21 total tackles. These are incredible stats for Mbamarah, considering the fact that he was on the freshman team only just last year. Mbamarah explained the transition from freshman team to varsity as a difficult process that he worked very hard to overcome: “The intensity of practices and how long they were was definitely a difficult change. Also having to fill into my role as soon as possible was difficult but I overcame the challenge,” said Mbamarah. Despite having a losing season, Mbamarah has had an incredible season himself. He continues to impress everyone with his raw talent.
As many athletes do, Mbamarah has dreams of greatness in this sport, but unlike everyone, Mbamarah is really shooting for the stars: “My goals here are to win a state championship. I came in here with this mindset that I have to win no matter what. I also want to win Gatorade player of the year, have 800 receiving yards, 75 catches, and at least 10 picks,” said Mbamarah. With his confidence, and the determination to win, Mbamarah and the cougars are destined for greatness during his tenure.
The cougars aren’t done yet though. Currently sitting at 3-6, the cougars have an upcoming game against Smoky Hill, which they look to win and finish the season strong.
