This one is a real blast from the past! With the influential rock band Oasis getting back together for a world tour coming in 2025, I found it fitting to visit one of their most popular albums–1994’s ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’. This album was one the most influential and popular albums of the 90’s era holding songs that to this day are sung by amateur karaoke singers in bars and songs strummed by guitarists at open mic nights. This album holds emotional lyrics with the classic rock sound we all love that stemmed from the 90s. This album holds classic rock tunes that are great to hear on your playlist (or if you even use it) to hear on the radio in your car with emotional pieces of how everyone just needs to roll with it, kick back, be yourself, and relax.
This album is great, based on my experience listening to it, some songs are overplayed. A lot of my most played songs are on this album, ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’, ‘Roll with It’, and of course, the most overplayed and easy song to play on the guitar (speaking from experience) ‘Wonderwall’.
My main takeaway from this album is the song ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and the message it sends. The whole song is a combination of almost all instruments that could be in a band, guitar both acoustic and electric, piano, bass, and drums all coming together to create an emotional tune. This song follows Liam Gallagher remembering an individual and encourages the listeners not to look back at him with anger after the fame and the pressure had gone to his head. This song alone has such raw emotion of just not wanting to be hated, to be looked on fondly, that even if someone isn’t going to burn your heart out, you don’t want anyone to look back at you in disdain.
While some of the songs off this album may be played at nearly every cover band show and radio station, the meanings behind even the most played songs still are amazing.
