Christopher Mattes, Staff Reporter
Christopher Mattes has lived in Aurora Colorado for his whole life, starting his scholastic career and soon ending with the Cherry Creek school district. Although Mattes is a senior, this is his first year with digital media. He found his love for journalism within the artistic aspects of it all. The shots and editing are the most important aspects of Digital Media to Mattes because you can tell a story through words, but having visual aspects pulls a story together and creates the emotion that most viewers seek.
Mattes also has other hobbies he identifies with and pursues outside of school. Skiing being his main passion, he ranks 3rd in the nation for halfpipe and 7th in the nation for slopestyle. Even though he does take a competitive approach to skiing, the culture is more important in his eyes. Creating video parts and participating in locally formatted competitions are what really drag him to the sport. But like every good sport, it is seasonal. So during the summers he still spends his time outdoors just performing a different type of action sport, Skateboarding. Starting before he could remember, skateboarding has always been in his heart and he pursues any free chance he has. He started really falling in love with skateboarding When he got his job at the local Zumiez last summer and has since then surrounded his life in the culture and community.
