It’s competition season! From February 22nd to the 25th, DECA attended the annual Colorado State Career Development Conference (SCDC) at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. SCDC is an opportunity for DECA students to win big by getting the infamous DECA glass and receive new opportunities: scholarships, internships, and full-time jobs. DECA vice president, Saanvi Vookanti, captures the fun and excitement students have at SCDC, showcasing DECA SCDC Weekend.
Day 1(February 22nd): Before arriving at The Broadmoor, DECA stops by Old Chicago to hang out, mingle, and eat dinner before settling in. After dinner, they arrive at The Broadmoor to unpack and relax before competitions start. The first day of the DECA SCDC weekend is to access your environment and chill out before the important competitions.
Day 2 (February 23rd): The second day of SCDC stands as the first day of competitions for SCDC. Individuals compete in their pre-pared events, carrying boards, easels, and props all around The Broadmoor for written events. The SCDC opening ceremony occurred right before the day ended: hyping up Colorado DECA for the fun weekend ahead.
Day 3 (February 24th): Students wake up as early as 6:00 am to see the results of who qualified for finals for the day one competition. Five different groups made it to finals, competing strongly for our school. Along with finalists competing, many other individuals compete in their individual and duo roleplay events. This day is packed with competitions, but it ends with a fun celebration with DECA After Dark: mini golf, photo booth, spike ball, live music, etc.
Day 4 (February 25th): After another day of competition, this was the last day students competed. With another bright and early 6:00 am, over 30 students made it to finals with their roleplay events. All the finalists compete yet again, right before the closing/awards ceremony. Before finding out about national qualifiers, the Colorado DECA state officer team is announced. We celebrate juniors Isadora Doll and Jennifer Tejawijaya, who are now a part of the state officer team for 2025-2026. Along with these individuals, congratulations to the 25 individuals who qualified for nationals and will later compete in Orlando, Florida. 2025 DECA SCDC will forever be remembered as a fun and award-winning competition.
