The best friendships are built on a foundation of trust, shared laughter, and knowing the littlest things that make someone tick. That’s why I created a quiz to see how much best friends know each other. Chloe and Lila have been close since middle school; they are now in 11th grade. One of their best memories together was attending the volleyball camp at UNC. They enjoyed this the most because they were doing what they loved the most together. I asked Chloe what the 3 things are that Lila says a lot: “Get off me, leave me alone, and she keeps touching me.” I asked Lila the same thing, and her response was, “Oh, I’m sorry, and just give me a hug”. It seems like Chloe is the calmer and sweeter one in the friendship, whereas Chloe is the more chaotic and confusing friend, but still very sympathetic and caring. Lila is a supportive, energetic, always going above and beyond; in turn, they mesh very well together.
We also have some of our favorite SRO besties, Danny Garcia and Francisco Salcedo, who have been best friends for about four years. They met while working the same patrol in District One. They share a memorable experience of chasing and tackling a suspect together. The conversation also touches on their frequent expressions, such as “What’s the word” and “Jesus loves you,” and of course, everyone’s favorite “6-7.” They say people will view them as two Latino officers trying to make a difference and inspire kids. Danny and Francisco describe themselves as empathetic friends who strive to understand others’ perspectives without judgment, emphasizing the importance of listening and not jumping to conclusions about people’s actions.
No matter how much time passes or how much we change, you should always know your best friend better than anyone else. They are more than just your friend; they are family, and that kind of bond never fades.
