The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) hosts a music competition festival for high school and middle school orchestras and bands across the state. Every year, Cherokee Trail High School hosts the event. The event happens every year around April and consists of 2 days: 1 for orchestras and 1 for bands. Groups compete to achieve the status of Excellent II or Superior I. Students don’t just perform, they also volunteer. The 2-day event includes student volunteers for all tasks: serving as tour guides for various groups, setting up the stage for each group, providing the judges with sheet music before a group performs, and many more responsibilities.
