Sources of Strength creates a positive impact on Mental Health

One hundred students were invited to attend a Peer Leader Training on Monday, October 9th for Sources of Strength. Sources of Strength is a suicide prevention program that focuses on health, hope, and strength. Mrs. Nelson, the adult advisor for Sources talks about the importance of being able to have strengths in your life and recognizing the signs of suicide. By being able recognize their own strengths, students can help our community recognize their strengths too.

Savvy Swensen is a senior at CT and it's her first year in Digital Media. She joined Digital Media because she went to Yearbook camp over the summer to learn how to use a camera for Sources of Strength, and was inspired by all the people who attended. She's excited to integrate deeper into the school community and share more stories. She is a part of Sources of Strength, a suicide prevention class at CT. She dances at Michelle Latimer Dance Academy and wants to be a professional dancer when she grows up.

Paige Kyle is a Senior at Cherokee Trail High School. She has been a part of the CTTV program for two years and loves it. She works mainly with video aspects of various stories and writes some copy. For the last four years, she has been in the International Baccalaureate Program and National Honors Society. She loves teaching dance and is a part of the Colorado School of Dance faculty as a teacher for 4-8 year olds this year. She aspires to go to college and become a teacher in the future. Her favorite things are family, friends, being a teacher, pandas, and the color green.
Blake Garrett

Blake Garrett is a senior student athlete at Cherokee Trail High School. This is Blake’s first year as a member of the trail media program. Blake is, and has been an athlete on the Cherokee Trail soccer team for four consecutive years. Blake is also apart of the Sources of Strength, a suicide prevention class at CT. During Blake’s free time he enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, and also enjoys getting exercise. As his first year involved in the program he’s very excited to create stories and ideas throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
