Trotting the Trail: Turkey Trot

The Turkey Trot took place November 13th 2023, organized by the Be Kind campaign on World Kindness Day. Trail Media Reporters Kenna Shenk, Kallie Shenk, and Jessica Perez dived into the event and asked students about their experience at the Turkey Trot and what they did to contribute to families in need during the holiday season.

About the Contributors

Kenna Shenk, Social Media Manager

Kenna Shenk is the Social Media Director for CTTV. Kenna has been a part of the Cherokee Trail Journalism program since her freshman year in 2020. She is a part of Yearbook and Digital Media. Her senior year, she got promoted to become the Social Media director for both the Yearbook and Digital Media programs. In her free time, she loves to go to CT sports events and take pictures, drive around and hangout with friends, and loves to listen to music. She plans to stay in Colorado for college and study either psychology and/or journalism. She is excited to begin the last year of her high school journalism journey and is planning on making it the best year yet for Trial Media coverage and capturing memories.

Kallie Shenk, Staff Reporter

Kallie Shenk is a Staff member for CTTV. Kallie Shenk is a Sophomore and she has been in the Journalism program since she was a Freshman in 2022-2023. She is only apart of Digital Media but hopes to be put into Yearbook the following year. Kallie hopes to be apart of Sports Broadcasting because she is on the Dance team and knows what types of photos and videos would make good BRoll for CTTV news videos. In her free time she usually spends it with her teammates and her close friends. She loves to listen to music and go on late night drives with her older sister, Kenna Shenk. Planning ahead for college she plans to move somewhere towards the coast but an option not along the coast would be Tennesee for their Dance Team.

Jessica Perez, Team Leader

Jessica Perez is a Junior at Cherokee Trail High School and a Team Leader for Trail Media. Jessica has been involved with Journalism for 3 years and is in her second year on staff. She has grown a passion for being in front and behind the camera, interacting with others and just bringing a smile to faces. Behind the scenes, Jessica was born and raised in Colorado. She has grown up to love music and traveling every year with her family and wants to visit new places. Jessica likes to hang out with new people and especially her best friends. As Jessica continues to excel in her educational journey, she tells stories to unite the community.
