Lysianna Antoinntte Herrera

Lysianna Antoinette Herrera, or Lysi for short, is a junior at Cherokee Trail High School. Lysi’s first name is her god sisters name backwards, her middle name, Antoinette, is he mothers name, and he last name, Herrera, is from her father. Herrera is a bright, fun loving, encouraging individual, who cares for all. In her freetime, you can catch Herrera playing hockey, watching hockey, or ice skating.

When she was younger, any music in Spanish could be heard playing around her house, however, the same can’t be said for now. Herrera listens to almost every genre of music. You could also find Herrera with her headphones in at a free skate or stick and puck.

Herrera has a love for hockey. She started playing hockey at 14, and has played ever since. She started playing to escape from her home life. There are many things Herrera has already accomplished in her hockey career. One of her biggest accomplishments so far, has been playing on a team of all boys in a checking league. In fact, in March, Herrera played on the junior varsity team for Cherokee Trail hockey. The JV team was all boys and two girls. Making the double A’s girl team is something Herrera is looking to accomplish soon.

One thing easily picked up on about Herrera, is her careful yet aggressive personality. She cares for everyone around her, and their emotions, but put her on the ice, and that carefulness disappears, and is replaced by aggressiveness.

Herrera is on the CT staff this year to help her in her future of becoming a sports journalist. She hopes to help contribute to the coverage of sports at Cherokee Trail, and is looking forward to becoming a better photojournalist.
